Car mode stays shut until you've heard the voice that will speak to you. A strange sound at speed is a distraction, and distraction is the whole risk.
How this actually works
No magic, just browser APIs used carefully.
Start it without touching anything
A website can't listen for its own wake word — that's an operating system privilege. But your phone's assistant can open this short link for you, and car mode starts listening the moment it loads.

iPhone — "Hey Siri, Quillvein"
- Open the Shortcuts app and tap + (top right).
- Tap Add Action, search Open URLs, and pick it (the one under Web, not "Get Contents of URL").
- Tap the blue URL field and paste the address above.
- Tap the shortcut name at the top → Rename → type Quillvein. That name is the Siri phrase, so keep it to that one word.
- Tap Done, then say "Hey Siri, Quillvein" once while unlocked to approve it.
If Siri says it can't find it, the shortcut name and the phrase don't match — rename it and try again. Sign in to Quillvein once in the same browser Siri opens, and stay signed in; otherwise the link lands on the sign-in page instead of the road.
Android — "Hey Google, open Quillvein"
- Open the link in Chrome and use ⋮ → Add to Home screen.
- Long-press the Quillvein icon for the Car mode shortcut.
- Or in the Google app: Routines → + → starter "When I say…" → "Quillvein" → action → Open app/link → paste the address.
Two things must be true before it will actually talk: your road voice is confirmed below, and you've allowed the microphone once on this phone. Without the confirmed voice the link opens the page but leaves car mode off — on purpose, so nothing strange starts talking at speed.
Speech in, speech out
Your device's own speech recognition transcribes you continuously; replies are read aloud by the device's voice. No wake word needed once car mode is on — it takes turns with you, waiting for a pause before it answers.Dead zones
